Bts catastrophic failure

I had tried to put my beyond the sword to open in steam multiplayer but it didn't open. When I tried to get it to open, the alert replied with a catastrophic failure message. Any ideas why that happen?

You have to buy the game for 9.99 off of steam to get it to work.
