BTS caveman2cosmos

Hello. I need help with the Civ 4 BTS mod, caveman2cosmos. This is my first time trying to install a mod. I followed all instructions: Downloaded the file from civfanatic, unzipped, copied the unzipped file to the BTS file under the mod folder. I can see the mod when I go to advanced however the game does not execute the mod. It just goes back to the same original homepage. I am not sure what I have done wrong and have gotten a dang head ache. I am new to the mods not the original game. I have up to Civ 6 but prefer to enhance Civ 4. Can you help me or point me to someone that can??
