BtS fails to load past 'Init Engine' during start-up

Thanks in advance for any help with this:

I installed the Civilization IV: Gold Edition (combined Vanilla & Warlords) and tested to see if this would work. It did.

I then installed BtS after. No problems during installation. Click to load and it goes through the initialization sequence. Once it reached 'Init Engine' it maximizes to a full black screen.

I hear the sound of the '2K Games' sequence begin - no image - and the soundtrack stutters on the first 2 seconds of the load up and then boots me back to desktop. It stays in Windowed mode for about 5 seconds and then the standard 'Windows has closed this program - Send error report/Don't Send' etc. pops up.

I uninstalled everything. Made sure my video drivers are up to date - I could not find a more current one - Nvidia Geforce Go 6150. So I assume if it was current enough to play the CIV 4 Gold that it would play BtS.

I made sure I had Direct X 10, made sure there were no Windows updates I was missing, reinstalled everything overtop - tested Warlords (worked) and then installed BtS to realize the same problem outlined above.

----

Anything changed from Warlords to BtS that I am overlooking?

Thanks again.

Many thanks, GVBN, however it still is behaving the same way.

Is there something I can edit/delete so that it skips that start sequence and goes straight into the Title screen? I have my doubts it will succeed, but it is worth a try.

Any other suggestions are welcome. Please. Pretty please.

ADD: I visited my laptop manufacturer website and their drivers are older than mine. I found that a bit odd. :hmm:

Editing the .ini file was the trick. It skips right into the Title Screen and bypasses where it got stuck.

Wish I knew why it failed in BtS and not Warlords, but...

Who cares!

Kiitoksia oikein paljon, GVBN!!!

Try running dxdiag (Start > Run... > type 'dxdiag'), selecting Sound tab and disabling hardware sound acceleration
