Bug in 1.21g

this only happens in he final 1.21g patch. not in the 1.21f open beta.

i've had changed the text files inside the text-folder to german (i'm in germany). as i said the beta doesn't had any problems with the special characters like "ü", "ö", "ß" and so on. but the final 2.21g shows this characters now as "?" and other "funny" characters like "§" and an "Y" with two dots above ???!!??

it would be greate if anyone has a solution for this, or if this could be redone by the programmers.

Check out the german site for Civ3. Go to the offical Civ3 site (www.civ3.com) and click on the German option near the top. Check out the links. You may find a German fansite that may better assist you.

This isn't a bug per se, it's a "feature".

The 1.21g patch fixed an issue where we weren't dealing correctly with some special Win32 characters in text files. The upshot is that these conflict with high-ASCII and foreign Mac characters. As I understand it, there's work being done on localized Civ3 versions for the Mac, so a fix will probably come from that route.

thanks for the tip, but the german sites only deals with the windows version (which works fine). guess they aren't aware that there are more than just windows outside ... thanks anyway.

to brad, thanks for your respond, hopefully there will be soon a fix to remove that "feature" in the meantime i have to return to the beta
