C3C Multiplayer Help!!!!!

I have tried to activate the multiplayer menu on C3c and PTW, but the computer becomes really slow and the game music goes outa sink. I have to shut the program down through the task manager. Any tips would be appreciated.

I'm using a Brand New Dell Inspiron 6000.

A notebook?

well you have good processor .... try opening task manager while on the main menu, and set CIV.exe (or something like that, find the one using the most memory) to high priority, this will give the game more processor time, and may fix the problem your having.

If it is the notebook your using its more then compliable of running civ, in fact it should run it very well as the Dell Inspiron 6000(notebook) has a 2Mb cache memory(or 1 ), and Civ need lots of that

If its brand new than the harddrive should be in top form so that shouldn't slow it down and the memory should be fast....

let me know what happens

its a desktop and the process indicates it isn't responding, with 2 cpu (HT) at 3.0 mgz and 10 minutes its still lost, also is there a fix program for pediaicons, every screnero I try to load corrupts that file and I have to re-install (civ gold III) and now conquest

I will try to give it a tremendous amout of time rather then 10 minutes and see, it gets frozen at choosing players colors!?

Hey thanks, but I don't see a button so I can switch Civ.exe (or whatever it is) to the highest priority task.

Usually Ctrl-Alt-Delete brings up the task manager. Or you can right-click on the task bar and select Task Manager, and it will be brought up. Select the Processes tab. Then find Civ3 in the task list, and right click on it. Select 'Set Priority'. There will be several options. DO NOT select 'Real time', as this will lock your system up. Select 'High' or lower. When you're done playing civ, or need to switch to another application, you can set the priority back down to 'Normal'.
