C3C PBEM Newborns

I think that means a histographic win would be in 4900 AD :crazyeye:

I'm pretty sure I've never been beyond 2051 AD in any game. Sounds like we'll all be visiting the Eloi & the Morlocks if this one goes the distance.

In the immortal lyrics of Zagger & Evans:
In the year 2525, if man is still alive, if woman can survive they may find...

My scout is a bit on the old side, so his vision isn't what it used to be, try cooking nice buffaloe steak over open fire and he'll be bounding over the horizon before the dinner bell rings.

Just a quick update for the curious. My scout (Boone) has been quite successful in his travels so far, adding a tech and some gold to my assets. I'm not sure how you other gentlemen got barbarians so soon unless your first build was a military unit. Your not supposed to be able to get barbarians from a hut if you have no military. Also, a thank you very much to the map-maker for the nice chunk of ground that the fertile Iroquois nation calls home.

Ooh, I wish I had fertile ground. Besides my capital, at any rate. At least let me have two food bonuses if you're going to do this to me!

On unit naming, can we be bad people and name our units after the directions they might be going in the next turn? It's really bad to name them after other units since that is confusing. But the next turn direction thing will help us remember what units are supposed to do without needing to use (the now notorious) go-to.

Over the years, I've built a list of names for units. Scouts are names like Boone, Lewis, Clark, etc - Warriors are Conan, Hercules, Thor, etc and all of the workers are 3-letter female names (what else since they have to work) like Ann, Bee & Dee. As long as you don't name them things like Philosophy, Polytheism or Construction, so that an offer of Polytheism for Currency doesn't end up a unit for a tech, everything should be ok. They also like to discourage renaming cities that have been around for a long time as it makes it look like you have more cities than you really do. A name like Westbound Curragh or Capital Sentry is fine.

I have a word document similar to what I use for the XOTM QSC that I keep a log of all my past moves and my planned unit moves for the next 3-5 turns. We just finished turn 13 and I've got my unit orders through turn 17 figured out. Of course I'm constantly adjusting them. I also include a Slider at x-x-x end of each entry so that I can be sure to prevent any potential riots.

Here's a sample from another game that I'm playing:

Discover Literature research Map Making (40% due in 12 turns) - Terminus builds a settler starts another – Helicon builds a worker starts another - Ann & Jay S-S & start mine – Bee SW – Cat W – Dee & Eve complete mine - Fay starts road – Gay starts road – Kay (worker) N - Korell Settler SE-S-E – Rigel (New) Settler SW-S-SW – Ajax fortifies – Thor NE – Odin N – Conan NE – Jason W – Ares W-SW – Boone NE-N – Slider to 5-4-1 – Send Literature to Carthage and should be receiving Bronze Working and Iron Working from Carthage

For PBEM: The oxen is slow but the earth is patient

For reference, I started a 4-player PBEM in the MTDG SABER thread in February and we're in the middle of a 2 week break while one of the players is in Scotland and we're about to start turn 92.
