Still not clear on how preserves and the associated buildings work. Played an East Asian game with Jayavarman and corporations are just insane. Got a culture win in the early industrial before Economics came online or Conservation.
So, a preserve is supposed to increase neighboring desirability by 1, but does it count as an improvement? Thus not being able to be included in a national park?

@Basajaun Wow that looks beautiful your empire actually looks nice to live in! One day I will try not to create an industrial hellscape dystopia just so I can look at something like this... one day...

The preserve seems really powerful in the hands of adept adjencency players which I am not one of, I'm rubbish at puzzle games!

A bit off-topic, but just to confirm, ¿this screenshot is taken with Civ5 terrain mod, right? Might need to try it someday....

Additionally, didn't noticed that was Vietnam at first. Great thing of this Civ that allow for such densely forested empires, for a change.

Thanks mate, those deer are definitely living the life. Inside a national park surrounded by 2 preserves :D
Im honestly loving the preserve district, and combined with Vietnams ability to plant woods sooner, it fits my preferred gamestyle perfectly. I can execute reforestation and empire wide culling much sooner and collect the benefit of the extra yields while cities grow again. Those 2 cities were down to 1-2 pop like 30 turns away right after burning all the forests
BTW more lenses mod helps me a lot complete the national park puzzle, it highlits and colors compatible tiles so that I can easily identify them and swap ownership and/or fix them on the cities so I can plop them
