Can a Golden Age be started from a government change? If so which trait or CIVs can do this?

nope it can't be done, if you want a Golden Age during a government change you will have to win with a UU

edit: why would you want a GA during anarchy?

Rev is right... I wouldn't win with a UU if at all possible during Anarchy. You could waste quite a bit of the GA during that time. Of course, sometimes it's unavoidable.

Wonder creation also can start golden ages

Wonder creation will do it by matching both traits of your civ. Usually this requires two wonders, one for each trait (listed in the Civilopedia for each wonder) but sometimes a wonder will match both traits. The Collossus will trigger a GA for the English for example.

The only annoying part of this is that if you are a builder like me, and you don't want a GA at the wrong time, you may have to skip buildling a wonder you might desire. When I play as the Byzantines, I always build the Collossus and try and get the Great Lighthouse built so my dromons can rule the seas.

Unfortunately, this means I can't build the Mosuleum because it will trigger a GA, since the Collossus = seafaring and Mosuleum = scientific. I'm usually still in depotism still at this point. Even though this powerful, never-expiring wonder is cheap to build I have to focus on something else.

I think valamas is asking if changing to a new government can trigger a GA, but I've never heard of this happening.

No the only ways is to have a UU victory or building wonders to match your traits. Governtment does not affect when your golden age start.

Wrong :p You don't have to build the wonder, if you capture a wonder that matches your traits, then you build any other random (Great) wonder, it will give you a golden age :)

Just had to point that out ;)
