There have been some great mods made, like the Denmark mod, but no-one has made a Scotch mod. It's desperately needed. Some people have said they would do it, but I suppose that they haven't got round to it. I would do it myself, but I do not have the time or the software to produce a decent mod.
Please, is anyone interested?

Here's a photo of King Robert the Bruce, a potential leader:

and here's a picture of King Constantine mac Aedh (900-943):

The bruce, the bruce!

SCOTCH! Do you mean the drink?
Scottish or scotts; scotch is a whisky.

But seriously I agree I am part scottish and would love to see the highlanders in action. ( I am thinking of making some Scotts Guard units for the WWII scenario although the thought of those bonny wee pipers being crushed under the tracks of my new Tiger II is almost heartbreaking!)
I think an English Civilwar scenario would be the best ballance, scotish, Irish, roundheads, caviliers, and it would be fun to play it not just as a total war scenario, but as an alternative history scenario. The civil was was one of the biggest turning points in english (and scotish) history. What if the british anialated each outher while the scots looked on, could the scots ever have defeated the eventual winner? What if the signed an aliance with the Irish? (this would have been difficult because of the religious split, but perhaps they could have found a way around this.

I am a terible writer and make many mistakes, but no scotsman would let you get away with that one. ( I am now getting that thing where if you look at a word for too long it starts to look all wrong, and aside from not being able to tell if you have spelt it right, I cant quite believe that scotts is a real word, I know it is, but my brain is telling me otherwise)

Oh ye, here are some pictures of highlanders for the UU:

And a more modern, Cameron Highlander:

Hope that it is of some help:) !

calgacus, Now that the PTW ex is coming out, they think "the celts" will be in it. I was mildly thinking of a doing this mod (yes for the past month) but now that they're making an official celt civ... Well I just dont think it would be worth the time. BTW I think I read somewhere the SCOTCH (j/k) never had kilts at such an early date, and in fact it was later they made them, well, what they are. Oh and dont the English get a great hero called Wallace?

You're right, the kilt is quite recent. I think that this is the first picture of something resembling a kilt:

3highlanders.jpg

It's from Germany in 1631, of a highlander regiment of mercenaries serving under Gustavus Adolphus. I don't thimk it really matters, because by the romantic age of the highlander during the Jacobite rebellions, the kilt tended to be the norm for highlanders.

There is a leader on the English GL list called Wallace. But I truly hope it's not William Wallace...the people at fireaxis aren't that ignorant (I'm hoping!). After all, there are no Scottish cities on the English city list.

Apparently there won't be a Celt civ...rather a Gaulish civ - very disappointing . Anyway, there'd still be interest in a uniquely Scotch :) civ. Robert the Bruce, Wallace, BP Charlie, etc. are quite different from Brennus. And a proper Scotch civ would be a mixture of Celtic and Anglo-Saxon elements.

For anyone who wants to do a Celtic Scottish mod, here is a Scottish city list in Scottish (Gaelic):

There are one or two changes and " or 3 towns may be have the wrong spelling, but overall it is reliable. Also, there are some towns which have been added to the end and a couple that are not the same, but they're easy enough to guess.

Well Said I agree, it would look weird seeing a Highlander with Trousers.

There is a leader on the English GL list called Wallace. But I truly hope it's not William Wallace...the people at fireaxis aren't that ignorant (I'm hoping!).

Who else, I ask? However Heartbreaking it may be Im sure its him.(almost)

After all, there are no Scottish cities on the English city list.

Good point, but they were probaly debating this subject in the Development room. They had to, by popular demand recognize the celts,so they added a leader... ( I Know it isnt much but how else could you explain it? )

Apparently there won't be a Celt civ...rather a Gaulish civ - very disappointing .

Yeah but my point is it would be hard to add a new leaderhead and uu to the game(my J.A.S burnt out)... as of now, we would HAVE to wait 'till June, wich is when the new patch (and editor) will come out.
I was proposing waiting untill the Ex came out(December:cry: I cant wait) and replacing the Gauls... what do you think?

Well, we don't really know what the new editor will be like. It might be the case that the new editor makes the job of adding new civs very simple. Having said that, the Gauls will be handy as the leader is liking to resemble loads of Scottish kings.

So, would it be better if we wait 'till the ex comes out in december? I don't think so, or atleast we can start on the mod, without any new animations for the moment. Like i said my animation cd is busted, i'll get another one but we will have to wait fo awhile, a week to be exact, (im not that good anyway) who should we replace? Or should we ADD a civ? I heard it has loads of barriers. Any ideas?

I am making a mod, should be out in early July, its the realistic world or something like it mod. Thanks for the input, I'll include the Scottish in it. But which default civ should I kick?

I'm thinking the... the... hmmmm... How the hell should I know! none of them look scottish, whatever you thinks best, perhaps if I study how to make leaderheads. I'll make one, then it won't matter.
