I do not get any stations listed when choosing trade routes, even when nearby. Lots of colonies are there, my own and others. Must be a bug, but I see ho other mention of it.

Is one of your other cities trading with it? A station can only trade with 1 city of each civ.
If you're not sure, hit the microscopic + sign on the bottom-right, left of the major nav buttons, and then select "Trade Route Overview". Post a screenshot of that.

Also, are potential trade routes to those stations blocked by miasma?

There are no stations listed on the Trade summary and I have never been able to trade with a station.
Miasma cannot be the reason as some of the possible routes are by sea.

a save from one of your games would help...
trading with a station requires a KNOWN path, one you have explored, that is miasma clear.
The other thing is there is a little - + on the trade route screen, and if you have closed the stations section, then you will never see any stations.
