Can't find the other Civs.

I just installed the game today. Ctp2.

I have explored about half the map and there are no AI players anywhere.

The graph shows the other Civs. it showed me ahead at he beginning and now I have fallen behind. The computer says they are there, but I can't find them.

I'm not a civ newcomer. I play civ2 and Alpha Centauri.

What's going on?

Also, the keyboard commands for moving the units doesn't work.
The game options lists the number pad keys as the movement keys, but they don't do anything.

Unless it's an exceptional game with all AI civs stuck on 1 landmass, there is clearly something wrong with your installation. AIs are always visible in my CTP2 games - under the Apolyton Pack super-mod they are all too visible, since they tend to attack you with stacks of 10 - 12 units before you've had time to build 5.

You could try simply starting a new game, or perhaps reinstalling the software. Also try the mod I linked above... it improves gameplay overall, making the AI far more challenging.
What operating system are you using?
