Can't Install - Catastrophic Failure on Disc 2

So I'm trying to install Civ4 on my new computer. My new computer runs Windows 7. When I try to install, the first disc runs just fine but when I switch to Disc 2 a window pops up saying "Catastrophic Failure" and the installation fails. I have directx 9c installed.

Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8700 @2.53GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M-GT 512mb
4GB (2GBx2) PC6400 DDR2-800 SODIMM Memory
Intel PM45 +ICH-9M Chipset Mainboard

Can you read the disk with Windows Explorer?
If so try copying the contents to your hard drive and install from there.

All it is is a dialog box that reads the following

Feature transfer error
Feature: Default Feathre
Component:
File:
Error: Catastrophic failure

I am running W7 Standard 64 bit. This error comes up in the following install modes for setup.exe on disk 1

Native
XP SP3
Vista SP2

It appears as soon as you put in Disk 2 and choose OK.

Its running with full admin privlege and auto play is turned off.

Event viewer setup.exe as the problem.
Its showing .\.\Assets\Art\Movies\Wonders\UnitedNations.bik

Just an update. There is alot of stuff out there about this, it seems to be some sort of 2K copy protection thing.

I decided to open my Civ Chronicles box to see if that would work and voilla all problems are solved. So it is a problem with the Disk or copy protection.

Thank goodness i am so addicted to this game that I own 2 copies

actually this is not a copy protection thing but either a faulty, dirty or scratched disc or (rarely) a disc drive thats malfunctioning. I'd try cleaning the disc with a soft dry cloth and if that does not help and its a new one: exchange it.
