Andu the only way I can recreate this propblem is by installing only required game files for 2.42 and using the .exe to upgrade to MGE. The new fix I have found is reinserting the intro.dll . I have uploaded a zip containing only the Intro.dll at the following http://hometown.aol.com/cedricgreene/Intro.zip
It's a little over 800k, let me know if it works.
