Can't save games

I know this seems to be a common issue and I have looked through dozens of threads. But try as a may, I just can't get it to work. When I click 'save game' or 'quick save' no file is created. Nor are any autosaves being created apart from the very first turn of the game, and even that is only for the most recent game I've started. Obviously for a game the scale of Civ 6, needing to save a game and come back to it is integral to the enjoyment and so it's becoming really frustrating after a few plays where I was happy just learning the new game. Anyone got any ideas?

MacBook Pro, High Sierra 10.13.6, playing via Steam.

You are forgetting that Civ6 is designed first for windows.
The mac has auto-save built into the OS, so you will be able to resume the current game regardless of whether you saved it or not.
You will find the saved games are being saved within your library folder, in the containers folder, within the steam game folder, in a folder for saves.
You may not have show invisible folders and files setup in your finder, so that is why you can't find your (user) library folder.
