What is the deal with capturing faction leaders?
Is it a feature of the game cut out at a late stage of development? Or are you supposed to be able to actually do it somehow?
Years ago I nuked the Headquarters of a faction, and I saw a little message at the bottom of the screen saying "So-and-So Base Headquarters evacuated successfully".
I've heard other references to it before too.
Then today, something really weird happened.
I was playing the University against the Believers, and Miriam got a probe team into one of my bases, so of course she captured my base, and then the army I foolishly sent to liberate the base, and then another one of my bases, and then she went to capture my Headquarters base.
She couldn't capture my Headquarters base, so what happens?
I get a pop-up message, complete with picture, saying that I had successfully freed Aki-Zeta of the Conciousness, and that they were eternally in my debt!!! (Aki-Zeta was eliminated in this game over a hundred of turns ago.)
Weird, huh?
