Native Life attacking each other

So I have gotten back into MSACac after quite a few years and decided to get right back into it with a transcendent Miriam run. I had learned a lot since I had been away from the game like how crawlers are just completely overpowered against the AI and was hoping to be able to put the knowledge to the test with my least played faction. Things were going well until I ran my eco damage to high and the planet began attacking me in force. I was able to repel the attack but not before half my enhancements were wiped out, time to rebuild. There was still a large amount of worms and spore launcher but I had planned for the attack in advance, was about to go engage them before I saw something I had never seen before. The planet began turning on itself, worms and spore launchers killing each other until only one spore launcher was left. At first I thought I was just missing something, maybe one of my pact brothers/sisters was assigning me in the fog with artillery, but then it happened again, and again. I would love if someone could explain what is going on here because I have never seen this behaviour.

Also the AI when they encounter me sometimes say they have an urgent message for me, but when I hit “bring on screen” nothing comes up. Sometimes they do this up to three times. Am I just bugged?
