Hi!

So I'm pretty casual player and usually play with friends online so I'd like to be able to do smthng instead of just falling behind and then just trying to catch up, which I never do. Those bloody districts bother me the most I guess so have I understood the "prio" for them correctly as: Commercial (> Harbor) > Industrial > Campus/Culture/Faith depending on which win you going for? and then the rest for e.g. happiness one as needed with encampment being where I usually pump out units? Same with harbor in naval combat and you should try to get Industrial&Happiness one's to give you'r best(usually capitol)&as many other cities as possiple bonuses? and especially after the "core" you don't really have to care about anything else than getting new lux or strategic resource or chokepoint etc.?

I did read that 1001 tips&tricks thread aswell, but feel free to share some other tips too :)

Thanks!

1. EXPAND. the more cities the better in this game. If AI are crowding you, kill them.

Industrial zones at first aren't super-amazing, but once you have factories they are the best district in the game. I think the best strategy right now is to beeline apprenticeship and immediately start building an industrial district in every city. That locks the district cost at that point so it won't keep going up every time you research a tech or civic. You don't need to finish it right away, just start it then switch to whatever you need. Also beeline factories...once those are up then you can build all the other stuff super fast. If you follow rule #1, increasing population plus monuments will provide the tech and culture for a while until your factory powerhouses can start cranking out the districts.

Harbors actually gives you +1 Trade Route, and Commercial hubs get +2 gold if adjacent to them. Also, the Lighthouse gives +1 gold, food and Housing, and Shipyards give production equal to the Harbor adjacency bonus. You want those in every city near the coast.

Also, plan your cities early. Early as, before you settle the city. Of course, not every single aspect, but at least where your important districts will get more adjacency bonuses (mountains, rivers etc.) or give/get more bonuses (6-tile range for Industrial Zones and Entertainment Districts). It's frustrating to settle a city, only to find out that it's 1 tile outside the radius of some Industrial Zones.

help! I have to abandon every game I start. I have to do a "city ranged attack" on a barbarian and I cannot figure out how to do it. Game will not let me bypass the attack.

You are never required to bombard attack anything -- just right click the notification and it will go away.

To do a bombard attack, look for a small red "bulls-eye" button on the city center. Clicking once will select the city and then you can click again on the bulls-eye to select it. Then left click the bombardment target. (Right clicking the bombardment target just de-selects the bombard button, which might be source of your frustration.)

Mynotifiction stops blinking but does not go away. how can I force the end of my turn? found the red dot, thanks

You should be able to just click the next turn/action button. Perhaps post a screenshot showing the problem.

there is at mid far lower right a larger icon and a banner on top of that says I can do a city ranged shot. those have to disappear to get the next turn action buyyon. They donot.

Just select something else on the map. A unit, another city. That banner/prompt should go away.

Thanks a ton for the replies! :)

In my current game I'm leading pretty much on everything due to getting Tomyris, being DoWd by Japan&Russia and stomping them on flat tundra. I got like 2 "proper" cities with 4 or 5 "bad ones" on my core. Capitol on 122hammers and a freaking 2pop city on 45(??? :D). What I'm wondering now is if I wouldn't have gotten Japan&Russia would I suck. Since it's not far away that I didn't have self built campus and I guess4 of the bad ones can only have 1 distr due to pop. They don't rrally have any land of their own so assuming I wont get DoWd would it be better to build like 3/4 core cities not so close to each other and get for eg. campus, commercial&indstrial districts up and running and then fill in with the bad ones whom might not get past 2pop? And if I do that and I have a distr in capitol on the 3rd ring and I settle a new city next to it, which city has it?

I mean in that game I settled one "factory city" with 3tiles between it and my capitol, right next to a lake crab with some NW bonus on it aswell, thinking I could swap it to be worked by my capitol, but I couldn't and I'm assuming it was, because it was on the first ring of my "factory city"

You don't work District tiles. And the District belongs to the city that built it. You can get bonuses in another city for building a District next to it though.

Thanks! Could you explain more about that whats bolded? :)

Cool! I thought it didn't count, because iirc it didn't show up on the "placement UI". Not sure if it does now after the patch.

I will try later letyou know
I pLay around and have always , BUT ONCE, eventually found how to RANGE SHOOT FROM MY CITIES. the red circles are sometimmes hidden by other tiles. Butnow my problem is that I am told I have a great person - but I do not have one visible to recruit or passs on. - cannot get past that action button. I am stuck in that game. bug?

Are you sure you were placing a District that gets a bonus from being next to another one? A few of them have 'if adjacent to 2 districts'. Maybe you were only adjacent to 1 and so didn't get the bonus.
