Civ 7 is a step away from the casual fanbase

There is not even ONE scenario in Civ 7. Not one.
We can't create scenarios even if we wanted.
All the nice unique tanks units in modern Age... useless...

The lack of scenarios and scenario building tools is absolutely puzzling to me. The ages system is literally three scenarios in their own folders! Use that to make cool stuff or let us do it! This game has so many great unique art assets that just are begging to be put into historical scenarios! Show us what can be done creatively with the ages, events, and assets and then let us do it ourselves

This could be the most customizable version of Civ IF the tools are provided. You know what might really sell units? If Civ VII was also a software tool where you could create your own versions of Civ! Then the tag “build something you believe in” would really mean something!

Civ don't need the casual fanbase... Civ needs to get it's back straight and go back taking bold decisions, unpopular decisions.
Go back? I think they made one of the boldest decisions they could have and it turned out to be the most unpopular decision in franchise history.

You should be elated! They gave you what you wanted. Why is everyone here complaining?!? ;D

In regards to your scenarios complaint:

Civ 5 and civ 6 did not have scenarios at launch either.

Quite some rose-tinted glasses you have on there. My number one criticism of Civ 6 is that it was very opaque. The UI does not really tell you how things work. And this got worse over the lifecycle of the game. Sadly, Civ 7 has continued that tradition.
I agree with you! However, in Civ 6 you don't have as many issues at the start of your playthrough. The questions and mysteries gradually arise, but it happens only after you're somewhat invested in the game, see its positives and already hooked, so to say. I think player retention would worsen if the devs tried to explain early on how district cost works in that game.

Civ 7, however, puts up a lot of questions early, without any meaningful explanations. Take quests, for example (when you choose a victory condition, and there's a quest at the top left of the screen for it). You don't win when you complete those, they streamline your experience, but at the same time they prevent you from understanding legacy points and "true" victories. Combined with era endings out of nowhere, this ends up appearing in multiple negative reviews.

Many people out there are still wondering how to spawn treasure fleets (the quest for it specifies shipbuilding, but iirc it doesn't mention fishing quays).
