CD-RW/DVD problem.

My combo drive can only read DVDs, not audio or data CDs. The problem is solved however as tech support will send me a new one. I'm not that tech savvy but curious of course.

OK, let me paraphrase that; what's the difference 'tween data/audio CDs and DVDs? Thickness, TOC, etc?

DVDs hold more data than CD's. Essentially, they're like several CDs tightly layered together.
