Hi!

Sorry, if there's a similar topic already, I've not found anything about that...

My problem : I'm playing with Civ1 in dos (version: 474.03). During the game, one time the changing production window gets full with the avaible items, then I can see these in two pages: 1. Units, and 2. Buildings (with wonders). Playing more, the list of avaible Buildings gets full again, after that I can't see any of them, just the "more..." button, wich doesn't do anything.
It doesn't freeze, but its really hard to play... with my smaller cities I cant product any buildings, only units.
(I've tried to put off Instant Advice, didn't solve that problem...)

thanks!

List overflow from having too many building options. Go back to your large cities, and knock some wonders out of the way. It's the only means of paring down the list for your undeveloped cities. Once you've built enough wonders, the building list will no longer be overloaded (even with space ark parts available).

In the city display, you can either right click the Change button or type "A". The citizens of the city automatically choose a building to work on.
If the city has no granary, that is the building you will work on.
After that, you can sometimes influence the choice.
You want barracks? Turn every citizen into an entertainer. This is only temporary. You can put those entertainers back to work as soon as the selection is made.
Need a marketplace (or library or bank or university.)? Shift workers to the squares producing the most trade.
For factory, shift workers to squares producing resources.
For aqueduct, shift to high food production.
For a temple, I'm afraid you have to let the city slip into disorder.

Moving workers around like this has no real effect until you go into city check. Be sure to put your workers back where you really want them as soon as you have the building selection you want (or at least have the least objection to).
I admit this is quite tedious, but you are not forced to build units in the small cities until the big ones build enough wonders to restore to improvements menu. If you build enough buildings on auto, it is even possible to restore the menu that way.

Once you've built enough wonders, the building list will no longer be overloaded (even with space ark parts available).

Speaking of which, DON'T build the Apollo Program until your lists are sorted out.

Hoover Dam will help restore lists by eliminating power plants.

Interestingly, over 17 years of playing, and not once have seen this error.
May be WOW is too much priority for me?

Nah, you are probably fine.

I think this error appears more often when using fast settlers. They speed up the tech pace and make players reluctant to build wonders that expire, and furthermore, the fewer turns elapsed means that the AI will not be awarded as many wonders.

That's part of it. Another is that the incremental benefit of another fast settler is worth more than a wonder, assuming you have a plan for all of them, and especially under Chieftain.
