City build radius

Cities can
- Work a 3 hex circle
- Buy tiles in a 3 hex circle
- Claim culturally in a 5 hex circle

- Continue to grow and grab tiles beyond hex circle even if there are still better tiles within 3 hex circle left to claim

when close to a opponent I'll do that.

the AI is really war crazy
In every game I get gangbanged (well, the initial assualt by the ai, after that, you take 10 units and conquer the continent (lvl king and higher))

does your civ get the luxury resources from anywhere in the 5 tile radius or does it have to be in the 3 tile so it can be worked?

Same for startegic resources. As long as it's improved and within your borders it's yours.

But, by intent or otherwise, building a city on top of a resource (such as marble) will cause that resource to become available even if you never build a quarry or mine on it. (Which of course you can't since the city is there.)

Gets any luxury in your culture. Does not have to be worked.

In a game I played recently I "aquired" some luxury resources and aluminium from the songhai (by using a culture bomb :mischief: which were outside my cultural range... I'm almost certain they did not appear in my list of luxury goods / strategic resources.

However they still worked when my cities demanded that luxury resource (for "we love the king day"). I still have the save, will check again what was going on there.
