You know those circles where the game suggests you should build a city? How often do you follow these? I always plan out my expansion, only to find I'm rarely in their circles. Is that common, or is my own expansion plans flawed?

I have a feeling the circles are what would be best for a city overall, but if you want to specialize a city, it can be better to just place one where you think is best.

Maybe I should just turn them off so I don't have to worry about it.

Almost never do i found a city on these circles, usually I have a good idea exactly where I'm going to put my city, the circles are off somewhere else when I get over there. If I DO found on the circle, it's usually because it is on a spot I was already going to put it there. Only once or twice have the circles drawn my attention to a spot that's a little better and I'll relocate my settler over there.

I just turned those off...

Seeing how the AI places they cities i do not think someone should really care about those suggestions :D

No the circles are usually worse than what you can plan on your own, they also don't account for future cities. Just look how stupidly the AI places their cities alot of the time, they're using those little circles you know. :)

Edit: Damn, Refar beat me to it. :D

I make my own decisions. It is useful (arguably an exploit) to know where the AI is going to send his settlers, though, so I can settle an alternate site to beat him by a turn if I have to.

peace,
lilnev
