Hi everybody, I hope you can help me:
Do you know how can I rip the 'Intro' and 'Space Race' movies of Civilization I into a playable format (i.e. '.avi')?
I have a CD version that works with WinXP, but (I suppose) I need a software that 'captures' these movies when they play in the game..
The alternative is that someone among you has these movies on your PCs.. in this case, please, can you send it to me?

Thanks in advance!

Get a program that can record whatever goes on your screen.

Get a DOSBox.

Drag the civ.exe file into the DOSBox icon.

Record.

That easy. The hard part is finding a program that can record your screen..

SnagIt
actual versions

seems to be
v7.2.4

http://www.techsmith.com

can record active windows like DOS program animations in DOSBox
(and of course A LOT more... ;) )

SnagIt and Camstasia from techsmith don't work! They record the screen until Civ leave the the DOSbox visualization (where I select Video, Sound and Mouse/Keyboard options), namely until it start with the intro movie. In the recorded movie I see the screen frozen on the DOSbox.
To select the option "Run as Normal Window" instead of "Full screen" in civ.exe properties has no effect, because Civ1 runs always in "a-sort-of" full screen mode.
I don't know if the problem is the "full screen" and I don't know if is possible to run Civ1 in normal window mode (as civ4 i.e.)..
however thank you for your suggestions..

...maybe try to use the directx mode in SnagIt on DOS(box) - window?

the settings are a little tricky... ...for sure (i didn't use dosbox so i don't know - at least it should work better with dosbox than with the win95 - 98se dos-window?).

i did assemble some screens together
as
EARTH INTRO GiF animation
