Civ & 10.2

Hi Juan. I'm a little confused (normal state). What was cleared up? 1.21g is dated August 1st. OS 10.2 came out August 24th.

well, I was having these freezes a few turns into the game. But after I posted here I though of checking VT and there was a patch. After the patch the crashes disappeared.

The freezes still show up, but not as often. They last almost exactly one minute on my system, then go away.

It might be X.2 issue depending on your hardware config. Maybe I'm jinxing myself, but I'm running X.2 (on a medium-old machine) and I haven't had any freezes. Not even any Civ related crashes (though I do have issues with iTunes if I play it underneath Civ).

well, this is sticky. I played civ a bunch on my old dual 450 machine pretty much bug free. Got a new dual 1Ghz and this was the first time I fired up Civ. This was also the first time under 10.2, which is why I thought it was the OS (frameworks could have changed causing problems) but it could be my new machine.

Hm. My gut reaction is that it's how X.2 talks to the hardware, but... did you copy over your old files and play directly, or do a new install of Civ, repatch and only copy over mods, etc.?
Here's something else: there is a CivIII preferences file in preferences/library/user and it might be just enough to muck up the game. That might be worth a shot (but I can't say definitively). Maybe you want to ask (PM) Brad Oliver on this one.

I first ran into the freezes under 10.1 and 1.21f. They mostly went away under 1.21g. Always happens during unit movement and I have an off-the-wall hunch it's a sound-related issue between the unit sound and the background music. No big deal now since it happens with less than 1% of the frequency I saw under 1.21f. Gives me a chance to stretch.

okay, well... I had Civ on my second HD which got moved into my new system. So it's the same old copy of the application but since it's under a new OS a new pref file was created.

But I haven't put in a whole lot of time into it now that the freezes seem to have been fixed to know that they are gone. I'd say I only got 30 minutes of game play before I had to stop.
