Civilization VII Update 1.2.0 - April 22, 2025

I understand what you're saying, and I agree with your logic, but they have become seriously scarce. If you don't have an empire coast to coast at the end of antiquity, you're not going far on the legacy path unless you get lucky or play very fast and well. Likely both.
I often had that happen before the 1.2 patch, though. There was usually one good ocean with islands full of treasure resources and one bad ocean with islands that only had regular resources.
 
Just finished a 1.2 exploration game and yeah definitely agree now treasure resources are too scarce for how many points you're required to get. I did have two settlements with three each, but due to a little fighting i had to do to get those spots, they got set up too late for me to even get the first milestone.

If they reduced the requirement instead of drastically altering the resources formula, Songhai's free treasure fleets ability might actually be pretty powerful

As promised I did a complete count of all treasure resources on my current Exploration map (Continents, all standard, only UI mods. Special thanks to Moxl map search mod)

There are more than enough of them - 73 in total, 32 in distant lands, 41 in mainland which are 'empire' resources for mainlanders.

I understand some of your games generated way fewer than this, thus the complaints?

1. I’d like to see the numbers for a Continents Plus map, with an added column for island chains between the continents. A lot of the complaints are about the scarcity of treasure resources on islands.

2. I don’t think 73 is the right reference number for this exercise, but rather 32 from Distant Lands. The primary purpose of treasure resources is to help complete the Exploration legacy path, and to that end only the Distant Lands treasures matter.

That’s interesting - funny thing is I chose Continents in this game for the sole purpose of making it harder - to get the treasures, you are forced to settle on the other continent next to unclaimed coastal spots and the AI doesn’t like it and more chance for conflict. (Vs islands = little conflict). That was based on my pre-1.2 play thrus though.

My bigger focus is deity AI performance and even though the 1.2 AI did better in yields, still nowhere close to an adept human player in legacy points in Exp. (Only 1 AI cashed in a couple treasure points, rest all zero, same as pre 1.2 unfortunately)
 
Does anyone have any idea when the next update will happen? I thought I saw some info, but can't find it now. I started to play a game last night, but lost motivation, wondering about upcoming improvements/fixes.
