I own civ 3, and enjoyed modding it, but really wanted to be able to mod turn lenght to create more epic games, hence my purchase download of cic 3 complete. However, after installation I tried to open civ 3c edit and was told unable to find conquest, reinstall and try again, which I did, same result, however if I just pressed on the edit seemed to open, with about 8 error mss coming up first, all to do with missing terrain file. Anyway design my my mod and was 6 hours into it when the ai proceded to attack my land units with a ship (currah). Could this have somthing to with those missing terrain file, which desinate what is land and what is not (mind you my units cannot walk on water, naval units cannot sail on land (except the above attack) and for some resaon only the ai can do this to me, not me to it) weird.

Also, when importing files (biq) using the civ3c edit it referse to thme as bic file, uaually with a partial import error, and then saves them as biq files.

Last on a completly different note, can you mod rail to have say 6 or nine moverment (lik civ 4) instead on unlimited?

Any help with this large post would be appreciated.

The answer to the second is no, unfortunately. :(

For the rest I really can't figure out what's going on, maybe somebody else can help. If you're just starting from scratch though there shouldn't be any problems, no missing terrain, error messages and the like. Just navigate to Start > All Programs > Atari or whatever you're version is > Civilization III Conquests or Complete > Civ3 Conquests Editor > Civ3ConquestsEdit and you should have no problems if it installed correctly.

Did you uninstall all previous copies of Civ3 before installing complete? If you did not that will play havoc with Complete.

This is a bug in the hard coding of the game an will occasionally pop up it has nothing to do with terrain files.

Yes the editor always refers to them as bic it is the way the editor was coded. The Conquest editor will save as biq because conquests uses biq's the other editors are also available in complete but you are best off using the conquests editor.
On railroads no there is no option to edit the movement rate on rails only on roads.
I hope this answers your questions.......access control panel add remove programs and make sure no other copies of Civilization 3 are installed (vanilla, PTW or Conquests). If you find any uninstall them you may also have to uninstall Complete and re-install it. If you continue to have problems it may be because of a registry entry that was not changed during the install or uninstall processes. I could tell you how to fix that also however unless you have an abundant knowledge of computers manually editing the registry is not advised. There are programs you can purchase that will fix registry errors however.

Thankyou for your help and advice, but i did try to uninstall everything and it still made no difference. I decided to purchase a copy of conquest which is on the way, as I feel that th dowloaded complete is the cause o my problems. On the point about what civ 3 content I had installed on my computer, I have a partial 1.29f patch in th program list that if i try to remove, just will not go. If I do a file search for it to delete it manually I just cannot find it. I do know that this particular file(s) will not allow me to patch the vanilla cd copy of civ3 that I own own on CD. Shame about the rail but at least I now know that alll the editor refer to the files as bic, so thankyou for that. When I get my new conquest CD, will install original (1.07f), then conquest and then patch it to 1.22 and hopfully this will end my problems.

Where did you download Complete from? Complete contains PTW also which includes allot of extra units you will want to have. The inability to uninstal the 1.29 patch could very well be the heart of the problem.

IIRC Conquests comes with one or two of the 3 extra packs (I believe the Japan one was actually in the extras folder and the WWII ones were all in the WWII Pacific files). But I wouldn't worry anyway, they're all uploaded here in the units forum.

Downloaded civ 3 complete from eurogames something or other. Spent 2 hour trying to remove 1.29f and cound not find a way. Is there anyway you can get info in the add/remove programs section as to where the program is located? Maybe this way I can maunally delete it. My original goal was to have a working civ3 conquest edit, which the download did not provide, hopfully the disc version will.

OK.........normally the path should be something like this Program Files\Atari\Civilization III Complete I left the drive letter off because I did not install to my C drive. The Atari Folder could be Firaxis or even something else. I still think you may have a registry entry gumming up the works though.

cd copy of conquest arrived, and work great, problem solved it seems. Thank for all you help guys
