DONT EVER THINK ABOUT BUYING CIV3!!

Anyone else thoroughly frustrated at the crappy implementation and rushed developement of civ3? Any miniscule advantage it may have over civ2 is negated by it's sheer volume of OUTRIGHT STUPID bugs. I even list them, although if anyone agrees with me, then i'll REALLY start a rant.

Unless there's a MAJOR improvement in the near future in the way of patches, civ3 and it's useless manual will become a permanent addition of my paperweight collection

from what i've heard, the game is actually pretty good, baring the fact that there is no multiplayer or adequate scenario design tools.

almost every game gets at least one patch. that's no reason to hate the game. even civ2 had patches for the early version, would you have liked people not to buy that game?

Mail me your copy of Civ3, I'd like to see these problems firsthand. ;) I'll refund your postage with interest! :D

I am going to get it for Christmas. I have decided. Its looks like the good points outway the bad points anyway.

I have been playing Civ 3 and it seems that most people who hate civ 3 have a narrow set of strategies. The game has expanded and the strategies have expanded and if you keep on a narrow set of stratagies (ie spies inciting revolts in civ 2) then you will not like civ 3 as much.
Expanding my own narrow vision of ways to win has improved my view of civ 3.
:)

Have to wait till civ3 for mac. :(

But the game looks pretty cool, and so I can't wait to buy it for myself.

The new variety of victories, elimination of caravans and spies units, culture, and hopefully, a better AI, will give me new ways to win. :D

:king:

I have been thinking about getting Civ 3 for Christmas but having read so many complaints in the Civ 3 forums, I'm really not sure anymore. Are the complaints a result of the failure to develop startegies to fit the game or are there some funamental problems with the game. I am concerned over the number of complaints about battles and how AI units from inferior ages are winning.

what are your thoughts

This is good to hear. Many of the so-called "bugs" have turned out to be "what I did in CivII doesn't work here, so the game must be at fault." Instead of learning a new trick, these whiners just complain. I can't wait to get a copy! From all I've heard, the shortcomings it does have are far outweighed by all the innovative and improved elements.

Again, penvzila, mail me that cd!

actually Civ2 IS better in a ol'.... :)
becos' I can't make historically scenario for Civ3 :(
heck, i can't even set the start location of the RESPECTIVE civ

:mutant:

i being winning Civ3 with culture so it is not about winning which is bad.... is that after I complete 1 game, I don't feel like playing a second game.... thou i did.... i want to see the space victory.... :p

without the ability to make historically scenario, i will get bore of it quick....

They should be bringing out a patch or have it on the expansion pack so you should be able to make your scenarios then.
