OK gamers, anyone plan on buying EU2?

Any of you play EU1?

I figure there have to be some EU fans out there in the Civ3 universe. Would it be worthwile to pick up EU2 (never played EU1)?

EU is one of the most interesting games I've ever played.....was hooked on it at first.....

When is EU2 out? I'll almost certainly get it.....another good game for MP that didn't really have the support for it, whick caused me to loose interest too soon....

If you are at all a fan of history, euro history really, between Columbus and the Napoleonic wars, this game is a MUST have.....very, very interesting.

You could use it to teach histroy almost....

EU and Civ are 2 totally different games.

Civ allows you to play in the sandbox.

EU forces you to sit on the throne.

Personally, I am looking forward to EU2

You want to talk about bad combat results. In EU merchant men would very often defeat many warships. The offical line was there was nothing wrong with the combat system, the game was removed from my hard drive. EU had/has the potential to be a five star game, maybe EU2 has made up for EU's short comings, dunno. I'll lurk on the forums before I buy this one though.

How is that possible? Transports in that game don't even get a firepower rating. Its next to impossible for a warship to lose against a merchant men. Unless you are confusing Caravals with the Civ versions. Caravals in that game ARE warships.

Other than that, I don't see any way for transports to win. I have had battles where I sink 20 with 3 galleons.

I bought EU and very much enjoy it. At this point though all my playing time is going to Civ 3. But when EU 2 arrives in December I think it is, I plan on buying it. :D

Is EU turn-based? Turn-based and I will buy it. I have absolutely no interest in anything that is not turn-based.

Unfortunately EU is real time (but time can be set to very slow;) )

And I thought I read it on PC GamingZone that its released? Yet to see it in Malaysia yet though :(

I did played EU while waiting for Civ3 and I think I will get EU 2 but then I wonder where am I going to find time to play it

Don't be fooled by the fact that EU isn't turn based. It is a strategy game that a fan of Civilization will like. There are differences, but it is in no way a RTS game. You can slow things down so much that it might as well be turn based. Take it from someone who quickly becomes disillusioned with Command & Conquer type games because of the real time, this is a game for turn based people.

I am of course speaking of EU, not EU2. However, everything that I have read indicates that it is the same in this regard.

I played Eu for a long time ,and as like J Fred said the game had a good potential.Eu had a lot of fun concepts. The historical background and overal atmosphere was great ,the world map was beautifull ,the diplomatical part of the game was worked out very fine ( i liked vazalization :) ) ,and so much more to mention. But the game had some serious realism problem's.combat all toghether was tottaly unrealistic.Sometimes even small armies could anihilate armies that were 50 times bigger than them ,if they had the proper moral.Maintaining a huge terretory like the whole of Europe was impossible due to rebelions.Local conflict resulted sometimes in troops of China naval attacking the Teutonic knight's and landing on/capturing their territory.

Ah Europa Universalis ,indeed ,such a potential game ,some great pro's ,and some big con's.If Eu2 can keep all the pro's ,and loose all the con's of it's predecessor,i deffinetly will buy it :goodjob: .
