Hey all.. sorry that this may sound noobish for a question.. But I cannot figure this out. I have Civ 4, Warlords and the new Beyond the sword. However.. I am wondering... do they load content seperate or are they all merged together?

Like using the Beyond the Sword cd (For loading and so) could I play Warlords content? Or the orig civ 4 content? (The Scenarios etc)

Kinda hard to tell really... cause that would kinda suck if I had to load each game as a seperate thing if I wanted to play with certain content.

Also in normal mode, I assume if the games are fully linked and not seperate, that I would have the units from warlords and the new beyond? Not that I HAVE to play "Mods" or "Scenarios"?

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question... just trying to figure out if I have to keep all 3 cds on me to play the different versions or if everything and all scenarios will be included and just load the beyond the sword expanison. Thanks. =)

Still so much I have to learn about this game... Im a hardcore Civ 2 vet... even have it on my Ngage.. Civ 4 I love going the Culture route and expand boarders and wonders, just havent got too far into the game to know whats fully up. Thanks. =)

Btw Hi, 1st post, thought I had made a account long ago, guess not lol. Anyways once I settle in, Im sure Ill help out too. =D

Well I just started with all 3 and was a bit puzzled to see three icons instead of just one. Started BTS and played a normal campaign and everything seems included to me. Looks ok.

p.s. I also thought I had an account ages ago too.... strange.

Beyond the sword contains everything from Warlords except for the scenarios.
So even if you have no warlords installed you get all of he warlord additions to the game after you install BtS.

I think the other part of the question is, if you load Beyond the Sword, will you see all the CivVanilla and CivWarlords scenarios and be able to load them without restarting in Vanilla/Warlords?

As I don't have either expansion, I'm not going to take a guess on it and will let someone else answer.

So I actually don`t need the WARLORDS CD except for scenarios? So that`s £15 I could`ve saved?

sorry for double posts! agah!

According to everything I know the answer is definitely "Yes"
unless you want to play Multiplayer with people that only have warlord, but no BtS

edit: This forum`s messing me about. My messages keep getting doubled.

I don`t multiplay so I really didn`t need it. oh well.

Ok so the scenario wise, do I have access to Civ 4s at all? Or is it JUST Beyond the swords?

So meaning if I wanted Warlords scenarios or so I would need to load using that cd?

Also whats this about not needing warlords? Im sure it still would need to be installed to get its content. Would surprise me if you didnt, since they released Civ 4 gold which includes it.

You need warlords to play against other players possessing only warlords and not BtS, you need Warlords to access the Warlords scenarios.

In both cases you have to start with the Warlords.exe and put the Warlords CD into your drive.

You definitely don´t need it for the key concepts of Warlords, looking at the manual from BtS reveals that things like great generals, leader traits, unique buildings and similar things from warlords are mentioned in the manual as being included in BtS.
The manual doesn´t mention the wonders from Warlords, like the great wall for example, but I assume that also the wonders from Warlords are included in BtS without any need to install Warlords, too.

So yes, most of the content from warlord is included in BtS.

k, looks like Ill just have to play a normal game, see if the great wall is there and so... cause that would be stupid if they give us a expansion but not allow us to use warlords content in beyond the sword.

Tempting more now to just keep a no cd patch around for warlords incase i need to load that content.. kinda hard enough to carry umpteen cds when you tote a laptop around. =/

Yes, the Great Wall is in it, same with the Koreans, and Brennus etc.

It is just the Warlords scenarios you have to play through Warlords (Or Vanilla through Vanilla)> Same with mods to though..

Sorry to sound dumb.. but whats Vanilla? That the orig Civ 4 content? Also "Mods" have to load in their correct CD? Also I downloaded a "Mod Chooser" sounds like something that is good... sadly I never played too much with mods... since I tried to train off official type matches and gameplay... but Civ 4 sounds like fun with all the various mods... man.. would be fun to talk to some people about whats the ideal and typical setup for things..

Oh btw, my Xfire is - Mysticales if anyone wants to add me or to maybe talk and play. =)

The great wall is there in BTS. China just beat me to it. Which is realistic I guess.

Yup, the stuff before Warlords and BTS. The thing they released a few OCtobers ago.

Yes, if a Mod is made for Vanilla, you need to load it through Vanilla (it will Crash Warlords and BtS. It is the same with a Warlords Mod (has to run through Warlords) and BtS mods (They have to run through BtS).

But I wouldn't worry about carrying all your discs around unless you think that you may need to reinstall. Just take your BtS disc. It cannot run Warlords, but everything in a normal Warlords game is in BtS, just not the scenarios (but they were not that superb anyways.)

Ah... I never got Vanilla then.. whats it like, is it worth it and should or where should I get it?

Speaking of that tho... anyone know for sure if it matters if Warlords is installed or not now that beyond the sword is out? Like has anyone confirmed that there is content given with Warlords. Seems ppl think beyond included them already?

If you have BtS installed and able to play you have vanilla, it is Civ 4 without the expansion packs.

If you want to uninstall Warlords to save room, that would be ok, but to be safe make sure you reinstall BtS after so you have for sure the files you need.
