Civ 4 Complete : Unable to Update BTS

Hi

I just bought Civ 4 Complete and while Civ 4 and Civ 4 Warlords was up to date, for BTS the update 3.17 wont install either via the in game update nor by a separate download. I replaced my dll with the Bhruic's one and that just got me up to 3.13.

Anyone got any suggestions pls?

What do you mean by "won't install"?

Not sure if you have the same problem but in case you do, I just re-installed and I
noticed a problem when I tried to update directly to patch 3.17. I had to install the 3.13 patch before installing the 3.17 patch. I know this shouldn't be necessary, but it worked for me... sorta.

The other issue I ran into was a screwed up registry entry. I'm not sure how comfortable you're with the Windows registry, but I noticed that mine had "C:\WINDOWS" as the installation folder for BTS. So, if the patch installer runs wihtout giving you an error but the version of your BTS doesn't change, try searching in "C:\WINDOWS" for BTS files. Or if you installed somewhere besides the default install path try searching there (something like "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Civ4\Beyond the Sword"). If you find files, carefully make sure they really are Civ4 BTS files and copy them over into the BTS folder (you should find corresponding directories/files).

Just to update, I downloaded the patch from a different source and now it works fine. Is it normal though that the save file still shows as 301?

yes - build version should now be 3.1.3.1 and civ version 317
