Greetings, I just bought a new laptop with win 7 home (no virtual XP) and want to install civ4 on it, however at between 60% and 80% I keep getting the error message

""Sid Meier's Civilization 4 is not installed properly. Please re-install then retry Sid Meier's Civilization 4; Beyond the Sword installation"

I have tried 7 times, shuting the computer down three times.
I have also tried copying the contents of disc 1 to a temp folder, the same thing happens.
Does anyone know what I can do?
Help me Obiwan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

reinstall vanilla, and see if it works

Vanilla is the basic civ 4 that both the Warlords and Beyond the Sword expansions need to run. It sounds like something has happened in your Civ 4 installation before you installed BTS.What version of Civ 4 and BTS do you have? Is it the Complete version with Civ 4, Warlords BTS (and possibly Colonisation) all together or have you got them seperately? Have you installed Civ 4 before BTS or are you trying to install BTS without the basic Civ 4 package?. You will need to to uninstall everything and start again with Civ 4 before reinstalling BTS. Have a look at Lemon's Civ/Vista guide stickied in this forum, it has a suggested install/patching sequence for the seperate disc version that is equally good for W7.

In my experience, the Windows 7 uninstall never actually gets everything when it comes to anything civ.

I have repeatedly gotten advice on the subject that is entirely off base and fails to acknowledge how buggy and broken the whole thing is. Which is extremely annoying, BTW.
