I know this has been posted a few times, but I've seen a lot of those threads and none of the suggested fixes have worked.

First a little background:
-I own the original release of Civ 4, no expansions or additions. I bought it when it was first released.
-Running an HP AMD Phantom Quad-core 2.2 GJHz processor with 8 GB RAM and an NVIDIA 9800 GT with 1 GB RAM, about 3 years old
-Running Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2, 64 bit
-Have installed the game from both CD's, then downloaded both patches (1.6something and 1.7something), ironically the patches come up as Publisher Unknown even though I got them off the Firaxis website
-All drivers are up to date
-I've tried downloading DirectX 9c and installing it, I can't install it anymore since I have it already
-When starting up the game without compatibility mode, the disc is not found (I'm using disc 1, I know they messed up the labels)
-When starting up the game in XP compatibility mode, I get the Missing Disc error message
-Same error as above when starting without compatibility mode
-When starting in Windows NT compatibility mode, the game starts but I get no video and only choppy sound. I have to CTRL+ALT+DLT and close the game

Can anybody help me? I've tried all the ideas for fixes that I can find via google on this site and others. I'd really like to not have to use my laptop with XP in order to play since my desktop is my primary computer.

I have seen mentions that Civ 4 is incompatible with Vista, but I've seen a lot of posts that say "I can use it fine in Vista 64 bit" as well.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
