Hello,

First and foremost, a big thank-you to any who may be of help with an issue I'm having installing Civ 4 Vanilla. I downloaded it recently off Direct2Drive and when I launch the setup program with administrative privileges and even disable my firewall, I get an error message:

"Unhandled Exception: Error Number: 0x80040707"
DLL function call crashed: ISRT_SdShowMsg
Setup will now terminate

I read to rename InstallShield Installation Information in Program Files, so I renamed it to Installshield Old, reinstalled and this time got this error message after selecting the default install directory which I had never gotten to up until renaming the installshield folder:

"Error Number: 0x80010108"
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients.
Setup will now terminate

I have a Dual Core AMD Socket AM2 with each core clocking at 2.24 GHz roughly, 2 gigs of DDR 2 800 memory, 8800GTS 512 with latest NVIDIA drivers, etc. all running on a stable Vista 32-bit with SP2. This is honestly the first game I've ever ran into any trouble installing on this setup. Other games have installed and run fine to this day.

I have attached a .txt file of my dxdiag info.

Interestingly enough,

I downloaded Civilization 4 from D2D again, and it installed perfectly. D2D recommended downloading it again with my firewall disabled during the download and turning my antivirus all-time protection off until after the download was complete.

I did just that and no problems. Can't wait to jump into the game! =D
