The paintings that display for each wonder are exceptionally beautiful (as are the art-deco icons, etc) and I'd like to be able to look at the images directly. I think they'd make fantastic desktop wallpapers, but I'd rather not take screenshots in game and then edit them later in Paint.net. Could someone explain the process (assuming its possible) needed to locate and copy the art images from the game files? Thanks!

Alternatively, has anyone purchased the Civ 5 Special Edition and been satisfied with the Hardcover Art Book? If it has all the artwork from the game (wonder paintings, icons, etc) then I'd consider buying it outright.

Most of the art files exist as .dds files, which you can easily get a photoshop plugin for (as long as you don't run PS in 64 bit).

I managed to extract all the dds files in the DX9 folder, no sign of the wonders paintings :(

It's working properly for me at least for the wonders.

It seem however that the Icon files are... coded and we can't look at them properly.

Have a look :

Is this intended or did I miss something ?

Yes, they are in the same directory and they look perfect on my computer...

5047 files in the DX9 directory. After extracting the *.fpk files.
The original files is probably : WonderTextures.fpk

May have had a look at how look the technologyatlas.dds files on your computer ?

I also found art that vanilla don't use.... Like the panama canal and the three Georges Dam !! They look pretty !! :)
