I had brought up this idea for a mod a while back, but I figure with the latest editor it is now more feasible to take on such a project.
CIV BATTLE MOD
Details:
Create a mod where there is nothing but fighting between various units. This would be along the lines of how battles were fought in Genghis Khan II (Koei) or I believe it was called Super Conflict. Victory being when you destroy the other army.
- Units would need to be created probably based on a certain time period in history. The Unit stats would have to be adjusted to give more range, mobility and in an effort to create various and uniqueness between them.
- Maps would need to be made, mimicing the battlefield of historical battles. The stats for terrain would need to be adjusted and the map should be made to have a close up feel to it, not some global map but a map as in the games I indicated above.
- There would be no cities, only units from opposing armies battling it out. Scouts, canons, cavalry, camel troops, elephant troops, archers are some examples of the units that could be incorporated, and you could try to give each its unique stats (lots of beta testing would need to be done to ensure balance).
Thats it. I know for myself I loved the way the battles worked in Genghis Khan II, turn based, you move you units over the terrain, then the other guy and so on a mod like this by the way would be awesome for multi-player games - quick, all action right from the get go...
