Civ Complete problems

I just got civ complete the other day and have had some problems with installing the program. First off it says... "to install, drag the Civ Complete
folder to your hard drive" I did that and it started to copy but it stopped the process and a message came up and said "some things can't be copied"
I eventually found out that I could copy some things in the folder like civ3 data, play the world data, and conquests data but I couldn't copy the 'Civilization 3 Complete' icon or the 'Unsupported extras' folder. I installed all the civ3, ptw, Conquests data and I doubled clicked the Civilization 3 Complete icon and a message came up and said "Civilization3 Complete requires at least 1MB of free disk space. Free up disk space on your local disk and then re-launch Civilization 3 Complete". I don't know what it means by "free up disk space" and I'm not sure what the problem could be. I copied it to a external hard drive that has 147.68 GB
available.I would appreciate any help (maybe Brad ;) )

Here is my mac info, I know Civ complete says it supports only 500MHz or higher but I think someone around here said that their civ complete worked on 400Mhz and anyways I don't think that's related to the problem that I have.(as far as know)

i doubt if it was a CPU issue because i was playing it (for PC) on a pentium 2 266 MHZ. talk about lag on a modern era large map.

I'm not Brad, but I can give you an answer anyway... :-)

"Civilization 3 Complete requires at least 1 MB of free disk space."

This message appears if you attempt to run the application directly from the CD, which is not supported. The application must be copied to your hard drive and run from there.

"One or more items can't be copied. ..."

This means that your external hard drive is probably in the "MS-DOS File System" format, which will not work with the Civilization 3 Complete application. Try again with a hard drive that is in the "Mac OS Extended" format.

The reason why the Civilization 3 Complete application fails to copy over to a MS-DOS hard drive is that the OpenPlay framework is embedded inside and includes several symbolic links. The Finder simply doesn't know how to copy symbolic links over to hard drive that is not in a native Mac OS format.

Even if you were to somehow copy the files over to a MS-DOS format drive with the symbolic links intact, the Civilization 3 Complete application will crash immediately when run. It will also crash when copied over to a UNIX File System format drive. Yes, I just had to give it a try just to see what happens. :mischief:

So it looks like the only supported hard drive format is "Mac OS Extended", which is not entirely unexpected.
