first of all sorry about my english !

so i have a problem when i want to start civ my monitor shuts down and it says to high resulutsion(sorry i dont know how to spell that word) or refresh.
but the funny thing is my screen res is 1024x768 and refresh rate is 75. so i wanted to know how i can change civ. video settings out side the game.

btw my pc shoud be good enough to play the game

No worries about your english. ;)

What you want to do is find the Civilization III .ini file. That's assuming you're playing Civ3 without any expansions. This file is generally located at C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\civilizationiii.ini. Now, if you haven't started the game yet, it won't exist. But you can create it, and the game doesn't care what order the entries are in. If you want to make sure that you get the right directory, find your Civ3 icon on your desktop, right click on it. Select Properties, and then on the shortcut tab click on 'Find Target'. This will put you in the right directory.

Open Notepad, or a text editor. Put the following lines in, exactly as you see them:

Video Mode=1024
Refresh=75

Note the space in Video Mode. That space is required. Once you have those in the .ini file, you should be good to go.

i already fixed it but thanks anyway :D

i , just downloaded a new patch and it worked.

to bad that my pc is to old for civ 4 :sad: :sad:
