I say we create a petition for Civilization for PSP. That would be cool. Sony PSP has the hardware and the screen to play civ on the sony PSP, and would be easy to port something like civ 2 to the PSP. Civ 3 could possibly work the sony psp.

Firax could create it. or just some random programmers could port it. I guess it will happen eventually. I guess firax will eventuall create Civ for the PSP, if there is a big enough fan base. It won't be the best selling psp game, but it definatly won't be the worst. Remember PSP is aimed towareds the older games, and so is the civ game

They would probobly make it for the Nintendo DS, since the stylis is pretty close to a mouse.

You do have a point there... i eas acctually thinkin' the same thing.
Why civ II, and not just the full Civ IV?
The DS could handle it.
A pure Civ port to a handheld system wouldn't be good on the fingers (constant pressing of the gamepad moving the mouse around). Something like a city/unit selection menu (similar to the military advisor screen) would have to be made. Besides, it's so filled with old code, that any changes to it would probably break it (Civ3 atleast).
I my self put up a post on Civ coming to the Nintendo Ds becasue of the 2 screens and one of them been a touch ( Styles ) as well as many developers already making many of Stradegy games coming out for the System
As well i have seen a release for Civilization coming out on the Nokia N-gage (Through i don't think thats going to happen) on a popular game site called www.gamespot.com and i think www.ign.com may have it on their release dates, i also read that there trying to bring the origonal civ to moble phones i sore a picture of it , if i come across it again i'll post it up all somthink
Anyway after all that there must be some people out there who whats to develope civ for a hand-held and i for one would like to see it happen,
I personly think it would be better for the Nintendo Ds since it offers better controls for a game such as civilization, I think a penition should get started i for one, would like to support it or get it started but the real question is.
Will anyone here sign it, if we get heaps of signing going on, we could have a good chance off having one of the greatest games portable EVER!....

There was a version of Civ II released way back on the old PlayStation, I have no idea how well it sold at the time, it appears quite rare. I tracked a copy down through eBay just so I could Civ it up in yet another format. The gameplay and graphics are much the same, the controls don't suffer from not having a mouse, but the trouble mainly comes with the loading and saving of the game on those memory cards, plus the limitations of the hardware to cope with large maps with multiple units and inticate gameplay. The PlayStation audience still tend to be a bit more arcade and blasting obsessed, the intricacies of Civ are probably best on a PC.

It would'ent be better on the PSP , i mean civ is'ent a game you play for 20 minites and then go off to do somthink else like a arcade machine, the PSP's battery only last from 4 to 6 hours playing games, and it does take awhile to load not to machion that Civ is'ent about the Graphics it's about the Gameplay and the Ds offers better Control and 2 Screen's for Better gamplay , which one of the screens is a Touch screen givin a real good mouse like gameplay, which is what would be best not to metcnion teh Ds battery last's about 8 to 12 hours, and dosent load at all,
and that the Graphics is Better then that of the N64
My point is the Ds is better for these types of games, and many Stradegy games are coming over to the Ds, Age OF Empires 2, Comand and Conquer: , adn many others
So anyone that can work thinks out by puting could easly work out that the Ds is a better Hand Held for a portable version of Civ, go to the Civilization Ds fourm to see or post more about it
