Greetings -

After missing this game badly for years, I finally found a way to play on my mac, but it's only about 50% functional. I AM NOT TECH SAVVY so please forgive me in advance.

I downloaded a wrapper, and then the game in PC format. I opened the wrapper and a program called wineskin popped up. I copied the PC file into that and clicked on the Civ II icon. PRESTO - it worked... kinda.

1) no sound.
2) when you get a village the description box in empty so you don't see what happened.
3) you can't name your city.
4) half the city window is black so you can't see what to build, etc.
5) you can't build anything because the build menu has no text or buttons.

Is there a patch out there and if so, how would I go about "patching" this?

Thank you!!

Mike

I know this reply is like a year later... buuuuut I only just found this site, and looking for a solution to something also.

I'm using DOSBOX, which I found the best emulator for old games. You can download it for free.
I downloaded Civ 2 from gamesnostalgia.com, or just google nostalgia games.

Then, to extract the weird 7z file or whatever, I found only the app 'Keka' extracts properly (you can get it from any app store for about $3) - and presto! All old school games work perfectly.

Anyway, hope this helps whoever. It's sooooo annoying when all you want to do is play yer fav old game and you can't.
