I bought my son a copy of Conquests from ebGames' online site and downloaded it. The install fails and says something to the effect that I don't have CIVIII installed, but I do! I pointed to the right folder and everything. Any help?

That isn't the issue. The installation software tells me that I don't have the right version of Civilization III. Are there different versions of CivIII? It says "ActiveMarks Civilization III" is required.

I've never heard of ActiveMark's Civilization III, and google doesn't recognize it either.

Did you d/l the ActiveMark thingy too, or do you have Civ3 on a disc?

Just downloaded Conquest from EBGames website. Is there another, better place to buy Conquest online?

Oh...one other thing...when installing conquest it was looking for CIV3 in a folder that was not like any I have. Soemthing about Atari. I am assuming that the original producer of CIV3 was atari, but I could be wrong.

I don't know of a better place to buy it. I didn't realize that EB was selling a d/l-able version.

Infogrames Interactive was the first Publisher of Civ3. Then they bought the Atari name, and between Play The World and Conquests (2003 sometime) they changed their name. So technically it's the same publisher, just with a name change.

So do you have Civ3 on a disc, or was that a download as well?

Your version of Civ3 doesn't use ActiveMARK technology like your version of Conquests does. They aren't compatible

I have the disk.

I think the Direct2Drive and TryGames doesn't use the active mark. But I'm not sure. You might want to send them an email and confirm that.

Or you could go to wal mart and pick up complete for $20. Uninstall Civ3, install Complete, and you'd have it Civ3, PTW and Conquests.

"When you share activemark-enabled content with friends, or from a sharing website the files revert to trial mode with an opportunity to own the complete product" From a web page I checked.

GVBN is right you can't join the Civ 3 GOld and conquest together from online sources all because of copyright software Conquest dosn't comly with.(even if you pay )
I deleted the software called 'securom' in the registry and it worked somehow.

Ive heard since then, it must have been something else I dod to make it work, but if thats on your system its wise to remove it.It definatly won't hurt ;)

ive got the same problem as iammetn. Ive got regular civ 3,version 1.00. Should i update to 1.29?
