I was just looking around the internet pricing Civ III for pre-order and a couple of places, like Electronic Boutique are selling the game and a Limited Edition version of the game. Anybody have an idea what the difference would be?

HMMM, I hadn't heard anything about this. Could you put up a link to it so we could check it out?

Provo, huh? I'm in SugarHouse.

I was just looking over the link you provided. On one of the pages it had the 64.99 price broken down to two items. One was the game -- 49.99 the other they labeled PCHB. It stated the PCHB was published by Prima. My guess is the PCHB is the guide book.

I think so. Sorry, forgot to include the cost of the PCHB, it was 15.99. The two totaling 64.99. From what little I know, anything to be added later, e.g. new civs, scenarios etc. will be sold in x-packs.

I think their add is misleading, for me anyway a gold edition usually means a previous version included on the CD or its been updated with all the patches etc.

on a side note I have never bought dtrategy guide books for games..bugdet constraints.
Plus it seems like in time, between the boards and the web sites most all the stuff found in strategy guides ends up available anyway. At least I think, could be they are good tools though

BYU doesn't suck at hardly anything. The only thing that I can think of is football last year was mediocre. Either you think BYU sucks because of that, or you are bitter about something. The most important thing is that my degree has more clout coming from BYU than Utah for example.

BYU has the greatest fans, but then the greatest enemies also. I don't understand why.

All that is off the subject, because Civilization III is going to rock.

I'm sure the extra fifteen dollars is just a blatant grab for higher profit margins...by EB or infogrames, i'm sure firaxis would never do such a thing!

I've never met a strategy guide that was worth the money.

My father used to teach at BYU...They wouldn't let him wear a beard at first, even though he's essentially allergic to shaving (it raises welts on his skin)..we moved when i was five because my parents didn't want me to be the only non-mormon in my school.

I don't want to see anything more about BYU on the Civ3 fora!

I contacted Firaxis about the Limited Edition of Civ III. Here is the reply from Kelley Gilmore:

We're still working out the final details, but it'll come in a very nice tin with the game, manual, a "Making of Civ III" CD and some other cool stuff. I'll give you the final details when I know them.

Sounds exciting!

can somebody post one or two other links to sites where the limited edition can be ordered? this electronic botique seems to demand payment per credit card, and since i have no access to such a nice thing i hope there are some other online-game-sellers that allow other ways of payment.

and another question: has firaxis told to how many copies the edition is limited? could not harm to know this.

er, chipsbits seems to be creditcard only too, methinks, if i don't err... (what i don't do, do i?) any alternatives?
