Hi, I'm new to this forum. Anyway, I am puzzled at Civ III's outrageous turn lengths. I got the opportunity to play Civ III a couple weeks ago, and, to my surprise, I had to wait approximately two minutes for the computer to finish it's turn in a game with 16 Civs, Huge Map, and all animations turned on, at the year A.D. 100. I had put very little effort into exploration at the time, and saw very little of my opponent's movement. Those of you who played Civ II may remember that the computer did not take actual time from gameplay to make moves that you could not see. While I was excited at Civ III before it's release, I am currently contemplating Activision's Call To Power II. If it wern't for the long turns, I would readily continue to play Civ III. I have a Pentium III, 800 MHZ System, so I'm sure that isn't the problem. Please tell me your view on Civ III Vs. CTP II, your view on the turn lengths, and, if you know of a way to fix this possibly devistating problem. Thank you for your time!;) Jrat.

AD 100???

Just wait until you get to the Industrial Era! You'll end up having time to go to the gym for a quick workout before the game gets through a turn. And that's with all animations OFF.

As many have said, the game has problems.
