Civ IV doesn't ship with a paper manual?

Hi all, just purchased Civ IV & Warlords....have been a Civ player since the original Civ...Warlords came with a small paper manual but Civ IV just a PDF manual.

The European version of Civ 4 shipped with a (frankly rather larger than necessary) paper manual, but this probably varies from version to version.

So, I take it this means those of us in North America who purchased Civ IV all recieved the PDF manual then? Any of you folks who have bought it in North America get a paper manual?

I guess I'm spoiled from the years of seeing a decent manual come with the purchase of all Sid Meier's games.

I bought Civ 4 at Target in southern California about a month and a half ago, along with the Warlords expansion. Both came with paper manuals (Civ4 was 224 pages, Warlords is 149 pages long), and the original came with a big folded chart that shows techs, resources, promotions, etc. Is that what you are referring to?

As far as I know the only version that doesn't come with a paper manual is the Canadian version as it has both French and English versions of the manual on the disk in pdf format.

I guessing this is because the packaging would have been too big to fit both french and english manuals in.

The manual should be on the CD. Just open up My Computer, select the drive that the game is in, and then just look for a PDF named something similar to Manual.PDF.

Just to let you know, I recieved an email from 2K Games in NY & they are sending me a manual at no cost. We all know some software companies could care less after the sale, so I wanted to let people know at least in my situation they've been excellent in resolving my situation.

Also, they informed me that from now on all games sold in Canada will contain a english manual as well as french in a bigger box.

This is the email addy I sent my complaint to. Mind you, the reply I recieved was from another person at take2 not the above named person.

I recieved another email confirming the manual has been sent with an appology. I was informed it actually cost take2 more to include the PDF than the paper manual, which kind of suprised me.

I also should add that where I said "Also, they informed me that from now on all games sold in Canada will contain a english manual as well as french in a bigger box."....the spokesperson meant (if I understood correctly) games that require a larger manual will have both a full english & a french manual in a bigger box.

I got a very nice spiral bound paper manual when I bought of a store shelf copy of the 'special edition' of Civ 4.
