Do you ever feel like your Empire is to big?

Yes, it was my first and last game with huge map. I really got frustrated with all the management

Never. Ever.

Too big, yes
Too powerful, no
When going for 20K or space, having all lux + needed resources, those 20 last cities you took just because you were p****d at your annoyed neighbours and had tanks first doesn't add any pleasure in the long run. Still fun to win them... :) . I sometimes abandon unproductive cities within cultural borders but very reluctantly.

Yes. Very much so. Recently, I've only played 80x80 maps. Small enough to avoid the frustrating management, large enough for advanced tactics etc. The bad thing is that the game duration is so short - I have yet to reach the modern age in a game with DyP... :( Maybe next time I'll try a slightly larger map.

usually i don't mind because bigger empire = more points, but sometimes the corruption and micromanegment gets very annoying

On the huge map I am on right now my empire (China), Germany, and America each have our own continent. Germany and America each have settled their continents and are now settling small islands. On the other hand, my empire has only settled half a continent, but each city is very good. Each city is producing men and city improvement. Germany and America do not know where I am and so they do not see the amount of land that is open for them to take. Right now I am putting out settlers and riflemen and settling the rest of the continent in hopes they will not settle on my land. And I dont want the cities because it is too much!

I get frustrated later in the game by having to manage huge empires... that and having to manage the dozens and dozens of workers.

When i get a huge empire i usually set the governor to manage moods just to take that hassle out. Set workers on automate no change or whatever.. usually never let the governor manage production. Worst job ever. but sometimes i'll get really annoyed and just hit enter until the production dialogue boxes stop popping up.

Once I did that and a city built a Forbidden Palace I did not notice untell it was to late.

On another game I played a very very big Earth map with real terrian. By the time I discovered Austrailia and sent a settler there to build a city on some uranium and a message that I have never encountered came up "Too Many Cities" As big as my empire was I did not have any uranium. So I had to go to war against France.

I am feeling the cruch in my current game. Accidentally selected huge instead of lanrge. I would have actually gotten to use ansar warriors if I didn't pick the huge, and I wouldn't have to do so much freakin micro-management.

If my empire is way too big, I just put a bunch of cities to product wealth and just forget about them.

That is what I always do. Except for the one I am playing right now all my cities are producing units or city improvments.

On huge maps just expand your OCP ranges, ICS is not a viable strategy when you have to cover that much territory. The larger the map the longer the game lasts. Just get used to it.

If you want to be the supreme ruler of your continent it seems you've neglected expansion for quite a while, but maybe that wasn't your intention when starting off? I take it you don't have nationalism around 100 AD :D
Anyways, good luck wt game!

my country (germany) takes up 40% of the world on a huge scale map, i have them all produing units and improvements :) but im being a bit of a lazy git and using my govenor to the max ;) but shhh

Sometimes I get lazy and bored with managing my huge empire and especially revolting into Communism every 5 - 9 turns of Anarchy.

Every empire I build is too big for me, yes that's right, even pathetic little city-states. It's not because I'm as lazy as a sloth but... hey wait! it IS because I'm as lazy as a sloth, now who would have thought that...

In Civ II I would always have very small empires - I rarely exceeded 7 or 8 cities, and even then I won quite often despite having such a small population base and land area.

In Civ 3 I feel compelled to expand as much as possible, especially for resources. It's not uncommon for me to settle at least 15-20 cities, or more if I have the room. On top of that, I often get in nasty wars where I can pick up a few more cities. The micromanagement doesn't bother me so much on huge maps as the intolerably long wait for the computer to take its turns. :D
