How do you guys feel about using civassist II?

Ordinarily in a pbem there's no way to tell what your opponents have techwise, resourcewise, cash, lux but with civassist II it's all in the open.
I found that MIA used this to their full advantage in their negotiating and recognizing who had what in the last game.
I tend to think it's better to not allow these tools because it adds an element to the game which is secrecy. Tell me to go pound sand if you please. It's simply my 2 pesos worth.

It wasn't just MIA -- if KISS didn't use it then it was probably 3/4 of the teams who did. There are still plenty of secrets, like what you're researching now, resource locations, and where your stack of cavs is going next.

I use it heavily in SP, for a different reason -- I'm too lazy to MM a lot and the alerts feature (especially about to riot alert) is nice. Probably one of the reasons I'm unlikely to win a game above emperor. ;)

I don't feel strongly enough on it to complain one way or the other. It will be interesting to see what happens if there is a UN vote on it.

I use mapstat in SP as well but pbem's are a bit different.

KISS used it but when we tried stabbing MIA in the back with the tech deal they saw it from a mile away. I think it adds an element of uncertainty and secrecy that the game could use. The ISDG does not allow it and I kind of like it that way.

Again, I don't care but I think it could make things more interesting.

I'm fine with banning it. Let's try to impose anarchy on ALL the teams.

I'm fine with it so long as I'm not the turn player. MapStat is my crutch for not having riots. :p

please post arguments there. Cahmnix is asking what spoiler info there is. I don't know for certain, so I didn't feel comfortable posting.

Techs !!! what everyone has tech-wise is not written up nicely, but it certainly is decipherable to some extent.

I'm against as well.

I usually use mapstat especially to prevent riots when the empire is big. I used it even when there was a restriction in an SG. I simply only opened the happiness tab. But we should ban CA2 and mapstat alltogether.

It seems to be that either both should be allowed for everyone or both banned. Either way it gives all teams equal access.

Since I'm unlikely to be a turnplayer, it doesn't matter to me, but I haven't played without MapStat since a couple years ago, right after I bought the game. I'm not sure I'd even remember to look at the various screens for info. :crazyeye:
