Continued fantastic response from the Civ3 player community is allowing us to grow at unprecedented rate.
The Civ3 Game of the Month on CivFanatics has always been the largest and most widely recognized comparative play event in the Civ3 world and with the changes we have implemented since the beginning of 2003 we have seen nearly a 50% increase in participation as well as significant growth in every measurable statistic related to player performance and community participation.
To support this growth we are in the midst of organizing the GOTM staff into a sectional approach that will increase the ability of the staff to respond to player needs as well as to increase the participation opportunities for members who would like work in support roles to make the GOTM even a better place for all players.
Effective today Aeson and Creepster have been promoted to moderators with broader administrative powers to support the needs of our expanded player base.
Creepster will also head up the Front End Game Submissions and Player Support Section of the Civ3 GOTM Staff Team.
Phil Martin will be Co-leader of the Front End Team and will continue to focus on player support and personal issues assisted by Borealis who has joined the Staff in a support role to help us focus on customer support and new player contact issues.
Txurce has joined the GOTM staff to work with Phil, Creepster, and Borealis in streamlining the player interface processes and also to serve as a primary liaison to the Mac player community.
Additional support staff will be joining this team shortly.
Aeson will head up the Back End or Results and Information Section of the GOTM Staff and will be joined by Karasu and Ainwood and a number of additional support staff persons to focus on streamlining the results presentation and records access process to allow all players and spectators to gain more benefit for the statistical and results information that can be generated from all the GOTM games.
Zagnut has joined the GOTM staff in a broad role to function as a Publisher/Editor to make strategy information and technical articles on different aspects of the GOTM games more accessible to all players via articles on the web as well as information packets that we can integrate into the game to be available on-demand to players even when they are off-line and playing their games at how.
Col is in the process of shifting over from his roll on the tournament staff to serve in a leadership role to help us get more out of the QSC process. Col has also been independently promoted to a moderator in the OT (Off Topic) section of the CivFanatics site and provides the GOTM with a fourth person who serves on the Site Leadership team and who can help to process important administrative tasks within the GOTM.
RufRydyr and Xevious have joined the GOTM support staff to focus on graphics support and map image processes that not only make it possible to present you with some of the fantastic graphics and mini-maps that you have seen in recent QSC results packs but also will make it possible for us to provide better support to publishing technical articles crafted by some our most experienced and knowledgeable GOTM players.
LeSphinx has joined the GOTM staff in a role that includes making sure that the GOTM games will be accessible to French speaking players who have previously been excluded by some language incompatibility issues created in the Infogrames/Atari publishing processes. This month's GOTM20 will be the first GOTM game that is fully accessible for French players to play the same game as all the rest of the world but in their native language. LeSphinx will be joining the team to help receive and process the QSC game results that now number over 100 submissions per month. If the QSC were viewed as a game process all of its own, CivFanatics would now have honor of hosting both the Number one and Number two Civilization game events in the world, both as part of the CIV3 GOTM Community.
We have additional support staff members who are in the process of integrating and training to fill their roles on the GOTM staff teams and we should take this opportunity to welcome them and thank them for their support as well. A_Space_Oddity, Ambiorix, Renata, and Ronald will all be stepping forward along with other members of the community to help us continue to make the GOTM game venue one of the best places to experience the fun, challenge, and diversity of the Civ3 Gaming experience.
Please join me in welcoming all the new staff members and in congratulating our new moderators and all the individual players and contributors who have helped to make the growth and success of the games possible during the recent months.
We still have a lot of fun and excitement coming for the rest of the year and with the continued support of the players like you and the dedication our experienced players and staff we can look forward to many fantastic game event in the coming months.
