civ3 - ptw save game compatibility

hey there, iv been searching and searching but i cant find anything in the forums on whether civ3 save games saved under the current patch are compatible with play the world?

i know this is probably covered in another thread but iv got way to frustrated with the forum search engine to try to find it :-D

I loaded a civ3 game in PTW, but after playing (single player) a few turns in PTW it always crashes at the same place.

I played 1 or 2 turns of a civ3 game on ptw and the game crashed


But I got some random crashes on ptw games too...

Too bad. I would think they would be foward compatible, its only minor AI tweaks and few new units...

surely modifying the tech tree and ai stratergies would affect already started games....... ais would suddenly have new units/techs appear from no where and their whole stratergy for playing the game seems to have been uprooted according to some forum threads....
