Hello all.

I tried to search around for some answers to the problem that I think I am having. About 2 weeks ago, I bought Civilization IV, the complete edition, that includes the Civilzation IV, Warlords, Beyond the Sword, and Colonization.

I have no problems installing the game and everything worked fine. The problem that I am experiencing is that I'm not getting any Civilization 4 game, instead, it will direct me just to the Colonization, which I like, but would rather like to play the full-scale Civilization 4 game.

How do I get into the Civilization 4 screen, instead of having to go to the Colonization screen? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Swede

After spending some time reading the link that was provided on the "Similar Threads", I was able to understand some of the reasoning that the members were saying. However, one thing that when I did do a "recommended" install 3 times, all of it failed, other than just getting straight to colonization.

So, with that in mind, where I am thinking of doing the "Custom" install, which would it benefit more, going to the 32 or the 86 or whatever the C drive thing is?

The games are there and reinstalling will not change things. It doesn't seem to create the shortcuts under Vista/Win 7 however, so you're not the only one with this problem.

Some people find the other games listed in the games folder (on the right hand side of the start menu). It's probably easiest to check there first.

Others have to search the hard drive to find the folder it was installed to and create their own shortcuts. You may find it simply installed under "program files\firaxis games\..." (mine is), or you may find it has installed to "<Logon Name>\AppData\Roaming\..." where <Logon Name> is your login on the PC. AppData is a hidden folder so you will have to make sure that you have got windows explorer to show hidden files or folders or you will not find it. I'm afraid it's just a question of searching to find out where it has been installed on your computer. They will be in a folder called something with civilization in it (not sure what complete calls it, mine's called Sid Meier's Civilization 4), but Warlords will be in a subfolder of that called Warlords and BTS in another subfolder of the main Civ folder called Beyond the Sword. The files are Civilization4.exe, Civ4Warlords.exe and Civ4BeyondSword.exe if you have to resort to searching for them by name.

Beyond the Sword is the most complete expansion of the game and the one you will probably play all the time unless you wish to play one of the Warlords scenarios.

Thanks for the welcome. Apparently, I just had a mental fart on the issue, where I just could have just create a shortcut onto the desktop and be done with it.

*giving myself the facepalm*

Next time, I'll try to do better first. Heh.

If it's any consolation, SwedeCarlson, I had exactly the same happen to me. Installed it, unchecked the "launch" option because I wanted to read to manual. Could I find the thing? Sat there 'reasoning' with my PC ("Come on, we both know you've put it somewhere...") I had to search for the .exe file.
