I don't know if it's just me, but when I played civilization, I always used to wonder where exactly all those cities were in real life. So I made a page that places all the cities from the original Civilization game on Google Maps, with their modern names and a bit of historical information for each city, so now you can easily see where all these places are.

Where is Babylon? Or Thebes? Isandhlwana? Check it out:

Interesting. I've never really paid attention to the names of the cities. This has been helpful.

Welcome to the forum, slamnjam.

It's great to be able to "visit" the cities we've played. Well researched.
Have you considered expanding your page to include the 30 new cities in the overflow list?

I saw the list of overflow cities, but I didn't put them in because they don't belong to any one civilization. It would be interesting to put some cities from the newer games though.

Awesome!! Yes when I play Civ, I often think of where that city is/was in reality. Sometimes, if I play on Earth map, I give my cities the name of the real world city on that location. :)
