hey there,

i was about to buy civ IV the coming days when i read about the effects of the used copy protection.

i'm using drive emulators every day for my job (nope, not for cracked stuff, but for reviewing clones of audio and multimedia carrier i'm producing for several artists in my hometown) and for that, my machine runs clone-cd as well as clone-dvd and alcohol (newest versions, for sure).

should i keep my fingers off civ IV now? i don't own another pc and uninstalling clone-something or alcohol is no option to think of.

thx

Since the game doesnt work on most computers that arent perfect, you might have problems. Even computers that are perfect have problems sometimes

:bump: I've bought and Installed each one of those titles and I have Civilization 4 installed it works perfectly for me.

well, thx for the information... i think i'm not gonna buy it... it MAY work on my machine, but the only way to get rid of this this MAY seems to be 'format c:' and i'm NOT gonna do that for a game - even if it's sid meyers newest ;)

by the way: rebel, do you know, why your machine runs the game while so many users of only one emulation-software are complaining?

I have no clue why it works for me maybe I'm lucky!:goodjob: You could download the demo and see if it works on your system.

Probably because it won't work with an image of the game DVD mounted via emulation software (well, not without some extra work) and they magically can't find their "original" discs...

Works just fine with the DVD in the drive and Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools both installed.

np: Quasimodo Jones - Why Kill Time When You Can Kill Yourself (Robots & Rebels)

works fine with daemon. even then mounted and without DVD in the drive.
But this might have influence: I've installed the game and without even lounching I've installed 1.52patch, no problems since.

PS.: but I'm not the one who likes scraching and wearing out my CD/DVD and after those "please insert disc", I simply got my self no-cd-patch... ;)

Yeah. Pretty much the best way to go is to download a no-cd patch that way you don't wear out your cds and i would also recommend making a backup cd or dvd if you legally own the game because sh_t Happens. And it's pefectly legal if you own the games
